昨晚大气透明度一般,月亮也是黄的,纯粹测试一下用Tesla Model Y连同一位乘客把0.8米镜运出去观测,同时也带了Seestar S30 Pro拍拍,同行还有3位星河科研社人员。
  • 天狼星的十字星芒像钻石光芒夺目,也说明光轴够精准,伴星用Ethos 8的345x轻易拿下,跟天狼星之间隔着辽阔的天空。
  • M41疏散星团布满整个Ethos 21视场,从小年时便留意那颗中央红星原来并非唯一。大镜集光力够,星点色彩饱和度便高。
  • 猎户座大星云的不再只有绿色,是从中心展开的绿、红以及红绿的混色,Ethos 13的210x最好看。加LPS-P2或LPS-V4滤镜,核心的丝状细节进一步提升,不再是以前只有大结构的云气。345x下四合星外的E、F星不是TMB 203APO可比。
  • 木卫二欧罗巴凌木不再是小镜的隠约之间,Ethos 4.7推上590x,虽然视宁度只有7/10,但木星面外的木卫一、三、四圆面清晰可见,回到位处海边的星河科研社大美督基地,可轻易看见木卫面地貎,换上TMB Supermonocentric细节及饱和度提升一截。
  • 在H-beta滤镜下只能隠约看到马头星云,要清洗积尘的主镜及待天气透明度较好时再去。
  • 昨晚优化了一下机械及电机方面,几个目标校正后,追踪已较精确,中倍率长时间追踪,590x甚至用上超窄视场的TMB Supermonocentric目镜亦能应付。

A field test was conducted at PTC using Hong Kong’s largest 32‑inch telescope, together with the Seestar S30 Pro. Atmospheric transparency was only average last night, and the Moon appeared noticeably yellow. The primary purpose was to test whether a Tesla Model Y, carrying one passenger, could transport the 0.8 m mirror to the observing site. The Seestar S30 Pro was also brought along for some casual imaging. 3 other staffs of Galaxy Scientific Group were also present.
  1. Sirius displayed brilliant, diamond‑like diffraction spikes, clearly indicating excellent collimation. The companion star was easily resolved at 345× using an Ethos 8 mm, separated from Sirius by a wide expanse of dark sky.
  2. The open cluster M41 filled the entire field of view of the Ethos 21 mm. A reddish star near the center, which had been noticed since childhood, turned out not to be unique. Thanks to the large aperture and strong light‑gathering power, stellar colors appeared highly saturated.
  3. The Orion Nebula (M42) was no longer simply green. Instead, it showed a complex blend of green, red, and mixed red‑green hues radiating from the core. The view was most impressive at 210× with the Ethos 13 mm. When using LPS‑P2 or LPS‑V4 filters, fine filamentary structures in the core became significantly more pronounced, far beyond the large‑scale nebulosity seen in the past. At 345×, the E and F stars of the Trapezium were clearly visible and beyond comparison with what a TMB 203 APO can deliver.
  4. During a transit of Europa, the event was no longer a barely perceptible hint as seen in smaller telescopes. Pushing to 590× with the Ethos 4.7 mm, and despite seeing of only 7/10, the disks of Io, Ganymede, and Callisto were clearly resolved outside Jupiter. Back at Galaxy Scientific Group’s Tai Mei Tuk coastal base, surface features on the Galilean moons could be seen with ease. Switching to a TMB Supermonocentric further improved both detail and color saturation.
  5. Through an H‑beta filter, the Horsehead Nebula was only faintly detectable. A thorough cleaning of the primary mirror and a return under better transparency will be required.
  6. Last night, some mechanical and drive optimizations were carried out. After calibrating several targets, tracking became noticeably more accurate, allowing long‑duration tracking at medium magnification; even at 590×, the system was able to cope well, including with the ultra‑narrow‑field TMB Supermonocentric eyepiece.
